Addy Miller began her career as a child model at age four and later transitioned into acting. Her breakthrough came at eight when she landed the role of Young Lily (Dakota Fanning) in "The Secret Life of Bees." From that moment on, she knew acting was her true passion. Addy is best known for her role on AMC's original series "The Walking Dead," where she played the Little Girl/Teddy Bear Walker in the iconic opening scene that set the tone for the entire series. Fans have praised her scene as the "Best Kill," "Shock of the Week," and "Zombie of the Week," dubbing Addy an "Instant Horror Legend."
Some of Addy's most memorable experiences on "The Walking Dead" set include receiving personal direction from Frank Darabont, collaborating with award-winning makeup artist Greg Nicotero, engaging with producer Gale Anne Hurd, and spending time with actors Andrew Lincoln and Sarah Wayne Callies. Proudly, she performed her own stunts, impressing Mr. Darabont. Her character was later named "Summer" in The Walking Dead Social Game on Facebook, which also provided her character's backstory.
Since appearing on "The Walking Dead," Addy has made numerous public appearances representing the show, primarily at horror and comic conventions across the U.S. and internationally, with favorite destinations including Italy and Germany. These events have become a cherished activity for her and her family, offering opportunities to reunite with cast members and connect with devoted fans.
In spring and summer 2014, Addy filmed "June" alongside fellow Walking Dead cast member Kennedy Brice and Casper Van Dien. She also starred as Luna in her first children's movie, "Sugar Skull Girls." In 2015, she portrayed young Krissi Cates in "Dark Places," a film featuring Charlize Theron, Chloe Grace Moretz, Nicholas Hoult, Christina Hendricks, and Drea de Matteo, based on Gillian Flynn's novel and released worldwide.
Among Addy's favorite roles are her first lead as Mary Jane in the short film "Death and Mary Jane," her part as Melissa, daughter of Robert Pralgo's character, in "Remnants" with Tom Sizemore, Wilber Fitzgerald, and Adam Minarovich, and portraying Alifair McCoy in "Bad Blood: The Hatfields and McCoys." Despite the cold Kentucky set, she enjoyed bonding with the cast, which included Christian Slater, Jeff Fahey, Perry King, and Priscilla Barnes.
Addy's passion for acting extends beyond performing; as a child, she showed interest in crew roles and technical aspects of production. She learned from crew members on set and studied actors' reactions in films at home. She identifies as a darker actress, drawn to dramas and emotionally challenging scenes.
Academically, Addy attends North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC, pursuing a degree in Communication with a Public Relations concentration. She plans to add a Journalism minor and has consistently made the Dean's List. Her achievements earned her an invitation to join the National Honor Fraternity Phi Sigma Pi - Beta Delta, where she serves as PR Chair.
A fun fact about Addy: her role model is Taylor Swift, whom she met privately at a 2018 concert. Many people say Addy resembles Taylor Swift, something she greatly enjoys.
In 2020, Addy's film "Behind You" was released nationally and internationally in theaters and digitally. She spent four weeks filming in Salt Lake City, Utah, playing the lead role of Olivia alongside Jan Broberg and Elizabeth Birkner. The film was directed by Andrew Mecham and Matthew Whedon.
During her senior year of college, Addy worked with Emma Roberts on "Abandoned," which was released in theaters and digitally in 2022. Filmed just 45 minutes from her university, the primarily night shoots fit well into her schedule.
