Biografía
Jason earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Education/Child Development from Wagner College. Originally a New York actor, he appeared in over 100 commercials and held various recurring roles on television shows such as Kate & Allie, As the World Turns, and One Life to Live during his youth and teenage years. After graduating from college, Jason relocated to Los Angeles in 1998.
In Los Angeles, Jason continued his on-camera career while establishing himself as a leading voice-over artist and voice director for film and television. In 2001, UPN expanded its demographic reach by casting Jason as a lead actor on the popular sitcom Girlfriends. He portrayed Dr. Todd Garrett, a quick-witted and charming plastic surgeon, who was the love interest and later husband of Jill Marie Jones' character. From 2001 to 2006, the show’s portrayal of this bi-racial, bi-religious, child-rearing couple helped Girlfriends achieve top ratings. During his tenure, the show was the number one program among women aged 18-42 and attracted over 9 million viewers per episode.
To give back to the community, Jason founded Children's Playhouse Theater, a performing arts school and camp for children, in the summer of 2001. He has co-written and directed over 60 productions there. CPT’s curriculum has benefited thousands of students throughout the Los Angeles area, aiming to amplify children’s voices and ensure all local youth experience the advantages of the performing arts.
In 2008, Jason combined his passions for psychology and acting by creating "The Psychology of Acting" workshop series, grounded in Jungian and Depth Psychology. He has been invited to teach these workshops in Los Angeles and New York, including at Disney as part of their Diversity Program and at Yale University’s Summer Film Institute.
Jason married actress Ossi Taylor in 2004, and the couple has three children. Following his role on Girlfriends, he took time away from acting to focus on his family. With his children now older, he has recently returned to the entertainment industry.
Jason’s career continued with his leading role as Shawn Stone, a down-on-his-luck character, in filmmaker Shane Stanley’s serio-comedy My Trip to the Darkside. The film and Jason’s performance received high honors at the WorldFest Houston International Film Festival, winning the Gold Jury Prize for Best Picture. He reunited with Stanley for the sequel, My Trip Back to the Darkside.
He was later cast in Dana Klein’s CBS series My Friends With Better Lives as Jimmy Bennina, a friend of James Van Der Beek’s character Will Stokes. The show featured co-stars Kevin Connolly, Brooklyn Decker, Majandra Delfino, and Zoe Lister-Jones, and was directed by television legend James Burrows.
Jason remains a prominent voice-over artist and voice director in Los Angeles. His radio work includes commercials for 7-Eleven, Kmart, and a long-running campaign for Robbins Brothers. His voice directing credits span television and film productions such as Scorpion, Under the Dome, CSI: Cyber, The Blacklist, Black Panther, and Guardians of the Galaxy Volumes 1 and 2. Jason’s voice can be heard in animated films including Sing, Rock Dog, Happy Feet 1 and 2, Duck Duck Goose, and Finding Dory. He is also known for his role as Faregame, a loud, brash New York cab driver, in Disney Pixar’s Cars 3. The character was so well-received that Pixar featured Faregame in the short film Miss Fritter's Racing Skool included with the Cars 3 DVD release. In 2019, Jason and Ossi Taylor divorced.
