Biografía
Mariah Iman Wilson was born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona. Her artistic talent emerged early, beginning dance training and performances at Plumb Dance School in Scottsdale when she was just two years old. By age four, she was showcasing her skills in dancing, singing, and acting at Desert Stages Theatre under the direction of the late Gerry Cullity and his wife Laurie. Mariah took on lead and ensemble roles in numerous productions such as "Grease," "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown," "Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat," "Butterfly's Day," "Cinderella," "The Grinch," "Annie," "The Wizard of Oz," "Barbie Beach Party," and "Ugly Duckling." This experience led to several on-air appearances with Arizona's local media outlets KPNX-TV 12, KTVK-TV 3, and KNXV-TV 15's "Sonora Living," as well as features in local print publications including The Arizona Republic, The Scottsdale Independent News, Arizona Sentinel, and New Times.
As a member of the Arizona Angeles "Bronze" dance team, Mariah performed at Phoenix Suns basketball halftime shows, Arizona Rattlers arena football games, and the Arizona Maricopa County Fair. She also participated in the City of Phoenix's "Bob McGrath Sesame Street" Holiday Show. At six years old, she booked her first commercial audition for Joanne ETC. Her commercial work includes PSAs for Homeland Security titled "Medley," Arizona Anti-Smoking campaign "Kick Butts," a Lifetime Television promo, a feature for Female Olympians 2008, and spots for the Community Health Network of Connecticut and Morgan Stanley Financial.
After relocating to California in 2003, Mariah appeared on numerous television shows, including "Drake and Josh," "The George Lopez Show," "Summerland," "Still Standing," "Medical Investigations," "According to Jim," "Medium," "The Bernie Mac Show," "Judging Amy," "Inconceivable," and "CSI: NY." Her film credits include "Kicking and Screaming," "Be Cool," "Christmas with the Krantz," "American Pie," "Band Camp," and "Must Love Dogs," along with independent films such as "The Factory," "Tyler," "The Good Neighbor Policy," "After School," and the short film "Last Dance," in which she played the lead role of young Denise. She also appeared in pilot presentations like "The RO Show," produced by Roshon Productions, and performed in the screenplay "Tunes" at the 2005 Embodi Black Female Festival.
Mariah made her big-screen debut as "Magic" in the DreamWorks-Paramount motion picture "Dreamgirls," released in December 2006.
As a vocalist, Mariah has performed the National Anthem at local sporting events. Her solo performances include jazz singing at Sanders Mexican Grill and Gourmet Pizza Kitchen, as well as an invitation to perform at the Los Angeles County Fair as part of Sabado's "School of Music." She contributed vocals to the soundtrack of the feature film "Naked Bros." Currently, she trains under Michael Skidgel of the Michael Skidgel Singers. Mariah was featured in Jen Turner's music video "Slithers" and is also studying piano.
