Biografía
Matt Witten is a television writer, novelist, playwright, and screenwriter. His novel The Necklace, published by Oceanview Publishing in September 2021, has been optioned for film by Appian Way and Cartel Pictures, with Leonardo DiCaprio attached as producer. His novel Killer Story is set for release in January 2023. With over twenty years of experience in television, he has contributed to shows such as House, Pretty Little Liars, Law & Order, CSI: Miami, Medium, JAG, The Glades, Homicide, Judging Amy, and Women's Murder Club. His TV scripts have earned nominations for an Emmy and two Edgar Awards, and he has developed pilots for networks including ABC, ABC Family, CW, MTV, Freeform, and TNT. Witten has authored four mystery novels published by Signet: Breakfast at Madeline's, Grand Delusion, Strange Bedfellows, and The Killing Bee. Breakfast at Madeline's received the Malice Domestic award for best debut novel. His film Drones premiered in 2014 and was featured at the AFI Film Festival, Austin Film Festival, and London Film Festival. His stage plays—The Deal, Sacred Journey, Washington Square Moves, and The Ties That Bind—have been published by Samuel French and Dramatists Play Service and produced worldwide. As playwright-in-residence at the Hudson Correctional Facility, he organized festivals showcasing one-act plays written by inmates. Additionally, he has contributed articles to national magazines such as Glamour, Parents, and Parenting.
