In 2002, Sam Nazarian established sbe to transform the lifestyle hospitality industry.
With a relentless entrepreneurial drive and distinctive personal style, Sam Nazarian has been instrumental in redefining contemporary luxury hospitality. He has played a key role in shaping the future of global lifestyle hospitality by launching acclaimed hotels, residences, restaurants, and nightclubs. These include some of the most coveted lifestyle brands such as SLS Hotels and Residences, The Redbury Hotel, Katsuya, and Hyde Lounge, Hotels and Residences.
Founded on Sam's vision of a comprehensive guest experience that blends world-class design with exceptional cuisine, sbe has grown into a leading name in luxury hospitality. The company's expanding global portfolio now includes 28 hotels and over 175 renowned culinary, nightlife, and entertainment venues across North and South America, Europe, Japan, and the Middle East. sbe's achievements have fostered collaborations with internationally renowned talents like Philippe Starck, Yabu Pushelberg, and chef Katsuya Uechi.
As founder and chief visionary, Sam directs sbe and its divisions in pioneering real estate redevelopment, asset management, partnerships, entrepreneurial ventures, service excellence, guest relations, employee development, and superior hospitality operations, all central to sbe's identity. By creating innovative, performance-driven business models, he has strategically positioned sbe as a leader in the hospitality industry. Nazarian also spearheaded the acquisition of Morgans Hotel Group, a pioneer in boutique lifestyle hotels, in December 2016, and was instrumental in forming sbe's strategic partnership with AccorHotels in June 2018, which resulted in Accor acquiring a 50% joint venture stake in sbe.
Sam began his career by co-founding a wireless company, which he successfully grew and sold after achieving rapid expansion and record sales. He pursued studies at New York University and the University of Southern California.
Throughout his career, Sam has received numerous honors, including being named to Fortune’s 2014 40 Under 40 list, earning the 2014 Make-A-Wish Foundation Man of the Year award, and featuring on Los Angeles Magazine’s 2006 Influentials List.
