Roquel La Fayette is an accomplished actress, writer, director, and producer-known for her powerful storytelling and dynamic presence both on stage and screen. She is the creator and producer of the acclaimed gospel stage play The Battle: Peace Be Still, now being developed into a feature film. Roquel is also the founder and president of La Fayette Playhouse Productions and La Fayette Films.
A native of Los Angeles, California, Roquel's professional acting career includes a seven-year recurring role on the longest-running daytime drama Days of Our Lives (NBC). Her television credits also include The Bold and the Beautiful (CBS), Generations (NBC), and Port Charles (ABC). She starred as real-life mother Rita Wallace in It's a Miracle, appeared on Oprah (ABC), and was featured opposite Tony Plana in Fox's Beyond Belief. Roquel has co-starred with Blair Underwood on High Incident and with Felicity Huffman in American Crime. Additional appearances include Doubt, Devious Maids, Marlon, Being Mary Jane, and the web series Pepito's America. She also appears in the feature film Desperate in a supporting role.
On the big screen, Roquel has appeared in notable films such as Harlem Nights and Another 48 Hours with Eddie Murphy, Action Jackson with Carl Weathers, and Marked for Death with Steven Seagal.
Her stage credits are equally impressive, including leading roles in My Brother's Blood, Julius Caesar, Fences, I Need Thee, and A Raisin in the Sun. She has also performed in Busline 210 and The Inquest of Sam Cooke at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles.
Beyond acting, Roquel is a captivating host and speaker, having been featured on Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC), Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen (Bravo), and L.A. Inside Out (web series). Her face has appeared in numerous print campaigns, billboards, and national commercials.
A lifelong lover of music, Roquel grew up singing in the church gospel choir and playing piano, which inspired her passion for musical theater. Her training includes studies at Lee Strasberg, UCLA, TVI, and The Shakespeare Troop, along with numerous workshops in film, television, and stage performance.
Her stage play The Battle: Peace Be Still received critical acclaim and was featured on KTLA Channel 5 with Gayle Anderson and on Spread the Word with radio personality Andre Russell of Stevie Wonder's KJLH (102.3 FM). The success of this inspirational gospel production has led to multiple offers for film adaptation through La Fayette Films.
