LaLa DeVille is a writer, poet, spoken word artist and self published author from Compton, Ca.
LaLa first stepped on the poetry scene in 2016, where she competed in the Size It Up women's poetry slam "Spoken Word, Voices Heard."
Known for performing in Chuck Taylor Allstars shoes and being dubbed "The Queen in Chucks," LaLa has gone on to perform her spoken word poetry on such stages as The Giot Cafe, Da Poetry Lounge Open Mic, World Stage, The Mad Truth Open Mic and The Spot Open Mic.
LaLa has been a featured poet for Kevin's Cause Suicide Prevention And Awareness 5K run in 2016, S.W.A.A.M. Spoken Word Art and Music, The 2018 Pan African Film Festival Spoken Word Fest, Soul Sundays , The Speak Easy, The Griot Cafe, Poets & Allies, Rapp Saloon, Smoke Screen, Lyrical Rhythms L.A. and The P.O.W. (Power of Words) Open Mic. In 2018, LaLa completed a book tour in Chicago, Ill where she featured for "At Ease Sundays" and "Epic Night Open Mic." She also worked with spoken word artist Blaq Ice in the studio, performing on the poetry compilation track "Beauty & Lyrical Beast." In May 2019, she performed along with Chicago poets Hood Raised and Darling Mikki, in Las Vegas and Los Angeles for V.O.C.A.L. (Voices of Chicago, California and Las Vegas) where she was one of the featured artists.
LaLa is one of seven co-producers with "Diverse Verses LA," a collective of Los Angeles based artists dedicated to producing events that uplifts the community. Diverse Verses LA have been the producers of such events as "The Pan African Film Festival Spoken Word Fest" (2018-2021).
LaLa is the CEO of her own publishing company "Everybody Publishing" and the editor of her own blog "The Journal of LaLa DeVille'" and an advocate for domestic abuse and mental wellness. LaLa's mission is to enlighten, educate and uplift others through poetry and creative writing.
