Susan Gallagher is an American actress and producer recognized for her extensive work in film and television.
She was born in Charlotte, NC, the youngest of four children to Buddy Gallagher and jazz musician June Craton. Her father, Buddy, who aspired to be an actor, helped expand the family business, Good Will Publishers, in Gastonia, NC, where Susan was raised.
Susan began her acting studies at the Acting Studio and trained with several renowned teachers. After raising her family, she now dedicates much of her time in NYC studying under esteemed acting coach Zina Jasper. Her career has taken her across the US, particularly to NYC, where she played Val, a bisexual mother coming out to her lesbian daughter, in the series Queering (2018). Other recurring TV roles include Safe Harbor (1999), Treme (2010), and The Inbetweeners (2012). She is perhaps best known for her role as Lynn, a homeless woman, in the popular series Cobra Kai (2018). Additional notable credits include Marvel's Loki (2021) alongside Tom Hiddleston, Strange Weather (2016) with Holly Hunter, Bloodline (2015) opposite Kyle Chandler, and Lifetime's The Christmas Contract (2018) starring Hilarie Burton and Cheryl Ladd. She has also appeared in NBC's Bluff City Law (2019) and HBO's The Outsider (2020).
As a film actress, Susan’s credits include Walkaway Joe (2020) opposite David Strathairn and Danny Madden's award-winning Beast Beast (2020), produced by Alec Baldwin. Her lead roles include Picking Back Up (2018), where she portrayed an alcoholic/addict and earned a Best Actress nomination at the WIFF in Los Angeles. She also starred in female-driven films Doorstep (2019) and Windblown (2019). In one of her most demanding roles, she played a woman with early-onset Alzheimer’s in I'll Be Here for a While (2019).
In 2014, Susan founded Her Little Red Productions, LLC. She has written and produced several award-winning short films. Portrait of a Woman at Dawn (2019), written and directed by Cullen Douglas, premiered in Los Angeles to critical acclaim on the festival circuit. She also helped produce the award-winning documentary Marching Forward (2019) about Lisa Mills.
Susan has been married to Jimbo Jahna since 1987. They have two children, Caroline and Bo, and share their home with their rescue dog, Lily.
