Mario Viana García was born in Medellín, Colombia. He has studied Business Administration (BA), film direction and production. He works from the audiovisual on issues such as Human Rights and Memory Reconstruction, with participation in different universities chairs and presentations. He is co-producer and production manager of ENTRE LA NIEBLA (Colombia - Czech Republic - Norway, 2021) feature film by Augusto Sandino, premiered worldwide at the PÖFF Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia 2021. His first feature film as a director, A LOMO Y HERRADURA (Colombia, 2020), premiered nationally at the International Film Festival for Human Rights in Bogotá D.C. 2020 and was part of the official selection of the International Film Festival in Nicaragua 2024. He has made several short films, among which HUELLAS EN EL RÍO (Colombia, 2016-2017) with the world premiere at the Kannibal Fest - International Short Film Festival in Berlin 2017. He is associate producer of the CHINDAURA (Colombia, 2023), documentary short film by Pablo Andrés Muñoz Castrillón, world premiere at the Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival - FICCI 2023, LA TORRE (Colombia - Mexico, 2018), experimental feature film by Sebastián Múnera, winner of the Humberto Solás Cine en Construcción Grand Prize at the Gibara International Film Festival in Cuba, with premieres at the International Film Festival Rotterdam - IFFR 2018 and Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival - FICCI 2018, and LOS HIJOS DEL AGUA (Spain - Colombia, 2014), documentary feature film by Iván Talavera, premiered at the Mostra Internacional de Cinema D'esports de Muntanya - MICEM, Lleida 2014. Currently he is Member of the Colombian Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences - ACACC, Cultural Agent and, since 2016, Director of the Ituango Film Festival.
