Anna Taratorkina was born in Moscow on October 8, 1982, into a prominent family of actors, whose cultural heritage deeply influenced her artistic development. Her father, Georgiy Taratorkin, was renowned worldwide for his portrayal of Raskolnikov in Fyodor Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment." Her mother, Ekaterina Markova, daughter of Siberian-born writers, made significant contributions to Russian theatre and cinema as a drama actress, and is also celebrated for her work as a writer of prose, screenplays, and memoirs. The rich environment of her upbringing provided Anna with a valuable legacy.
Choosing to pursue her parents' profession was neither an easy nor an obvious decision for Anna. She completed her secondary education at one of Moscow’s most prestigious and respected schools. Given her linguistic talents, including additional studies in England and fluency in French, she could have easily chosen a career in languages. However, driven by conviction and personal choice, Anna enrolled at the Schepkin Higher Theatre School in Moscow.
Anna has appeared in nearly 40 films, often playing leading roles. She has also performed approximately 20 roles in the Russian Academic Youth Theatre and other theatrical productions in Moscow, which have been showcased widely across Russia and internationally. Her stage work includes both repertory and non-repertory performances. Additionally, Anna has engaged in radio broadcasting and frequently appears in media interviews, sharing her creative insights and responding to public interest in her work.
A versatile actress, Anna’s roles range from an aviation officer and the wife of Alexander Pushkin to a private detective, a military sharpshooter, a devoted mother, and a captivating romantic lover. Her characters embody qualities such as devotion, ambition’s complexities, willingness to serve, and a yearning for understanding—traits that define the diverse heroines she portrays.
