Alexx Thompson is a multifaceted visual artist and actor with a 26-year career encompassing motion picture set painting, photography, videography, and acting. Hailing from San Diego, Alexx was greatly inspired by the realm of "painters and poets," initially channeling his creativity through poetry published in several books. His artistic path led him to Los Angeles in the mid-1990s, where he found his niche in Hollywood film production as a Motion Picture Set Painter.
As a Union Motion Picture Set Painter and Local 729 member, Alexx has refined his skills over the years, specializing in a broad range of faux finishes and effects such as aging, rusting, and material simulation. His proficiency covers all aspects of painting, including color matching and detailed work, enhancing visual storytelling on major film projects. Alongside set painting, Alexx developed a passion for photography, gaining recognition for his striking portraits and dynamic compositions.
In the early 2000s, Alexx launched the Central Elements Art Collective, an online community for artists, musicians, poets, and filmmakers. This initiative grew into Central Elements Productions, where he expanded into filmmaking and video production. He directed, shot, and edited numerous music videos, taking on creative roles like Creative Producer, Director, and Cinematographer.
Beyond his behind-the-camera work, Alexx pursued acting, embracing a variety of roles that deepen his insight into film production and storytelling. His experience in front of the camera complements his understanding of the creative process.
As a Public Speaker, Alexx has delivered lectures on Set Painting and the vital role of the Art Department in filmmaking, with notable presentations in Istanbul, Turkey, and Quito, Ecuador. He has motivated emerging filmmakers and creatives by sharing his expertise in both the technical and artistic facets of the industry.
In 2013, Alexx co-produced, co-wrote, directed, and filmed his debut short, The Silent Princess, which explores a man's struggle with heroin addiction. He continues to grow as a creative professional, blending his passions for visual arts, acting, and filmmaking to craft compelling narratives.
