A veteran stage, voice and television actress, Maria Syrgiannis is a Greek/Canadian who grew up in Regina, Saskatchewan. It was here where she discovered her passion for performing, participating in every high school drama festival, little theatre musicals, fashion shows, jazz choirs, and tours of small town Saskatchewan with numerous theatre companies. After studying drama at the University of Regina BA program she traveled to Toronto, Ontario to study at George Brown Theatre School, graduating in 1990. Maria cut her teeth on various Fringe plays and independent productions in Edmonton and Toronto. On stage she has performed in theatres across Canada including The Factory Theatre, The Grand, The Centaur Theatre, The Globe Theatre and Berkeley St Theatre. Her first real break was to be cast as "Francesca" on the drama series Forever Knight(1996) playing opposite Geraint Wyn Davies, directed by Nigel Bennet. She then went on to act opposite Sam Sheppard in A&E's Dash and Lilly (1999), directed by Kathy Bates, The Cheetah Girls ( Disney, 2003), directed by Oz Scott, and had a recurring role on Naturally Sadie (Disney/Lifetime 2005) as Toula Papadakis. She has gone on to work in numerous television series such as Murdoch Mysteries (2016/2025), Killjoys (2017), The Expanse (2018), Utopia Falls (2019) and Run the Burbs (2021), and voiced the supporting lead role of Myrinne in the Assassin's Creed Odyssey video game (Ubisoft). Maria made her Christmas movie debut in Hallmark's Angel Falls: A Novel Christmas (2019), and is featured in Lifetime's Baking All The Way (2022); and Planes, Trains, and Christmas Trees (2022).
