Vaughn Juares (born March 27 in Fontana, California) founded and managed MuviNow and FilmDemic, media and technology companies operating in the US and Australia.
A sixth-generation Californian, Vaughn has extensive experience in digital product development, customer acquisition, content marketing, and innovation at the intersection of entertainment and technology, especially in emerging global markets. As an inventor, he developed early monetization and marketing models for new social media and filmed entertainment. Vaughn holds multiple patent applications related to marketing, rights management, social media content technologies, content recommendation algorithms, and media content syndication. He approaches problems with unique perspectives that lead to effective solutions.
Recently, Vaughn has focused on revitalizing, marketing, and expanding VOD platforms internationally, including launching Stuff Pix in New Zealand and MuviNow in Australia, the Philippines, and Indonesia. He led an international team in the hands-on development and deployment of MuviNow through telecom partners such as Globe Telecom and Telkom Indonesia.
Vaughn’s initial viral video success came with writing and directing the "Jesus Christ Action Figure" spec commercial, which garnered over 4 million monthly hits in 2003 on a simple webpage, predating YouTube. In 2006, he developed pilots for episodic content designed for early mobile phones, known as "mobisodes," working with Tony To, co-executive producer of HBO's "Band of Brothers." That year, Vaughn also wrote and produced short films for Microsoft's entertainment division, including "Saga of the Saint" and "Paper Trail." Additionally, he wrote and directed a series of short films for Dunkin Donuts featuring NFL, NBA, and Major League Baseball teams such as the NY Jets, NY Giants, NY Mets, NY Yankees, and NJ Nets.
Vaughn’s career took off in 1999 when he co-founded SER International Corp., a Spanish-language media agency. SER’s clients included Sony Music (Discos), Univision Music Group, EMI Latin, Fonovisa Records, and others. While leading SER, Vaughn became known for his work with artist Pilar Montenegro, whose number one Billboard hit "Quitame Ese Hombre" is recognized as one of the longest-running number one tracks. He also oversaw the creative execution of Jennifer Peña’s "Vamos Al Mundial," the official FIFA World Cup song written by Rudy Pérez.
