Carla was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and raised in Port Coquitlam and later Langley, B.C., alongside her two sisters and one brother.
After finishing high school, she spent ten years as an international model, working in print, catalogs, and commercials. At 26, feeling weary of overseas travel, she decided to pursue acting.
She enrolled in acting classes and landed a role as "Isabella" on the TV series Poltergeist: The Legacy (1996) on her very first audition. She then appeared in various TV shows, including The Outer Limits (1995), Millennium (1996), Stargate SG-1 (1997), and The Chris Isaak Show (2001), as well as films such as Saving Silverman (2001). Eventually, she relocated to New York.
On Stargate SG-1 (1997), she guest-starred as the original "Oma Desala" in the 2000 episode "Maternal Instinct," a character later portrayed by Mel Harris and becoming central to the series.
Carla is a mother of two and enjoys talents and hobbies such as playing guitar, singing, cooking, baking, sewing, painting, drawing, and crafting.
