Marc Hoeferlin is a British filmmaker, editor, and creative producer with over twenty years of experience creating acclaimed documentaries and collaborating with some of the film industry’s most esteemed directors. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscars), BAFTA, and the Television Academy, highlighting his notable impact on international film and television.
Marc’s career began with Night Commuters (2005), a compelling film shot in Northern Uganda about children affected by war. He developed a long-term creative partnership with filmmaker Nick Broomfield, producing and editing several of his works, including Whitney: Can I Be Me (2017), which premiered at Tribeca, and Tales of the Grim Sleeper (2014), which was shortlisted for the Academy Awards.
His recent projects include Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love (2019), which debuted at Sundance, My Father and Me (2021), Last Man Standing (2021), and The Stones and Brian Jones (2023). Additionally, Marc was one of the editors on Universal’s documentary Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition (2026).
Strongly connected to Africa, where he resides in Kenya, Marc has directed and produced numerous projects in the region. Among these is Albino United (2010), a documentary about an albino football team in Tanzania, produced for Channel 4 and National Geographic. He also served as Features Bureau Producer at Vivid Features, overseeing the production of three weekly CNN shows: African Voices, African Start-Up, and Marketplace Africa.
Marc’s work consistently focuses on telling human stories with worldwide relevance, covering themes such as war, music, culture, and identity. His films have been showcased at major international festivals, aired on leading networks, and reached audiences across the globe.
