Damon Cardasis is an award-winning writer, producer and director of film, television and theater. He has been nominated for an Emmy, PGA, WGA, Peabody, Gotham TV, GLAAD, Drama League, Outer Critics Circle, and Lucille Lortel Award. He won three Critics Choice Awards.
Cardasis conceived and executive produced the official authorized Martin Scorsese documentary, Mr. Scorsese, which received its World Premiere at the New York Film Festival. The 5-part series launched on Apple TV+ in October 2025, and won two Critics Choice Awards, a Directors Guild Award and was a Producers Guild Award nominee.
He also conceived and co-wrote the musical adaptation of Saturday Church, based on his critically acclaimed feature debut in 2017. The musical, co-written by James Ijames, with music & lyrics by Sia, additional music by Honey Dijon and directed by Whitney White, received its World Premiere at New York Theatre Workshop in September 2025. The show was extended twice and became one of the most talked about new musicals in New York. It was nominated for 5 Lucille Lortel Awards, including "Best Musical".
Previously, Cardasis produced Rebecca Miller’s film She Came to Me, starring Peter Dinklage, Anne Hathaway, and Marisa Tomei, which was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Original Song by Bruce Springsteen, and was chosen as the opening night of the 2023 Berlin Film Festival. Cardasis also produced Miller’s Maggie's Plan starring Greta Gerwig, Ethan Hawke, Julianne Moore, Bill Hader, and Maya Rudolph, which screened at the Toronto, New York, Sundance and Berlin film festivals.
For television, Cardasis was nominated for an Emmy for producing the HBO documentary Arthur Miller: Writer, which premiered at the Telluride Film Festival and was shown at New York Film Festival.
On Broadway, Cardasis produced The Arthur Miller Centennial - a one-night-only benefit starring Bradley Cooper, Jake Gyllenhaal, Alec Baldwin, Ellen Barkin, Laurence Fishburne, Tony Kushner, John Turturro, and Peter Sarsagaard.
In 2009, he co-founded The Lower East Side Film Festival, which continues to showcase low-budget films from around the world.
Additionally, Cardasis was chosen by OUT Magazine as one of their "Out 100" (which celebrates the most influential members of the LGBTQ+ community) and also as one of their "Tastemakers".
