Joseph Al-Ahmad is an actor, writer, and award-winning director of mixed Syrian, Bulgarian, and Sudanese heritage. Raised in Sofia and trained in Los Angeles, he is best known for portraying bilingual characters, such as Bassam in Above the Clouds (2018) (MBC) and Sgt. Zinchenko in Man of War (2026) (Apple TV & Prime), sharing the screen with LaMonica Garrett and Andrew Howard.
Al-Ahmad is native or professionally fluent in English, Russian, Bulgarian, and Levantine Arabic. His diverse background and versatility have led to collaborations on major studio productions for Paramount, Legendary, and Warner Bros, such as A Christmas Story Christmas (2022), where he contributed as the Narrator of the story during production, working closely with Peter Billingsley and Erinn Hayes.
As a director, his film Motives (2020) earned him the 'Best Narrative' award, along with the 'Honorable Mention: Director' award at the Los Angeles Film Awards in 2019.
He is based between his hometown of Sofia, Bulgaria, and Los Angeles, CA, and is represented by Tila Datta at DBA, London.
