Maria Ceiça is a Brazilian actress, singer, and performer from Rio de Janeiro with a distinguished career in theater, film, and television. She trained at the Martins Pena Theater School in Rio de Janeiro and launched her professional career in 1989 with the TV Globo telenovela "Pacto de Sangue." Since then, she has appeared in numerous telenovelas on TV Globo and Rede Record, portraying beloved characters such as Tuquinha Batista in "Felicidade" and Márcia in "Por Amor," resonating with audiences in Brazil and Portugal.
She has received several accolades, including the Andorinha Trophy and the Special Jury Prize at the Film Festival of Portuguese Language Countries in 2006, as well as a Special Tribute at the African Film Festival in New York in 2005. Maria Ceiça has starred in numerous films, including significant Brazilian and international productions like "Filhas do Vento" (Brazil), which won six Kikitos at the Gramado Festival, "Cruz e Sousa, o poeta do Desterro" (Brazil), and "Se eu fosse você" (Brazil). She played leading roles in internationally acclaimed films such as "Testamento" (Cape Verde, 1997), which won Best Film Kikito at the Gramado Festival and several international awards, and "The Hero" (Angola, 2004), recipient of the Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize in 2004 among other honors.
In theater, Maria Ceiça has performed in over 15 productions across Brazil, including notable plays like "Boeing - Boeing," "A Lua que me Instrua," and Jean Genet’s "The Blacks." As a singer, she has presented two shows featuring Brazilian Popular Music (MPB). Since 1997, she has also contributed to TV Escola, an educational channel serving teachers and students in Brazilian public schools.
In 2007, she took on the role of Superintendent (Coordinator) of Racial Equality at the Secretariat of Social Assistance and Human Rights in the State of Rio de Janeiro. Currently, Maria Ceiça is contracted with Rede Record TV and manages her own production company, Luminis Produtora Produções Artísticas.
