Jack Campbell is best recognized for his role as Dr. Steve Taylor in Australia's top medical drama, "All Saints" on Network Seven, and for portraying notorious gangster Big Jim Divine in the Nine Network's highly rated series, "Underbelly Razor," set in Sydney's 1920s criminal underworld.
Raised on a wheat and cattle farm in Outback Australia (Warrenbungles), Campbell completed high school before moving to Sydney to study acting at The Actor's Centre in Surry Hills. In the early 1990s, he appeared in several Australian TV shows and performed with the Sydney Theatre Company in "Six Degrees of Separation." He then co-starred in the feature film "The Nostradamus Kid," alongside Noah Taylor and Miranda Otto.
From 1996 to 1998, Campbell played Aaron Kellett, the Prime Minister's rebellious son, in the New Zealand drama series "City Life." He then starred as Dr. Daniel Buchannon, a romantic lead, in the successful New Zealand medical drama "Shortland Street" (1998–2000). Campbell also appeared in New Zealand dramas such as "Jackson's Wharf" and "The Legend of William Tell" before moving to New York to study at The Cay Michael Patten Acting Studio.
Upon returning to Australia, Campbell created and hosted a successful internet radio show, "A Positive Spin," aimed at teaching street kids how to transform negatives into positives.
In 2006, Campbell resumed acting with a role in the BBC/Nine Network co-production "Maddigan's Quest," a young adult post-apocalyptic drama. He then appeared as Archangel Raphael in the feature film "Gabriel" and starred as Captain Anthony in the BBC/ABC co-production "The Catalpa Rescue."
Between 2007 and 2009, Campbell portrayed Dr. Steve Taylor in "All Saints" on the Seven Network. During this period, at Tourism Tasmania's request, he hosted the second series of "Discover Tasmania," a lifestyle program on the Seven Network. He later joined the soap opera "Home and Away" as Michael Patton and guest-starred in the Australian drama "Sea Patrol" as mercenary Garth Davidson.
In 2011, Campbell appeared in the feature film "Burning Man" before taking on the role of Sydney's infamous 1920s gangster Big Jim Divine in the Nine Network's top-rated drama "Underbelly Razor."
In 2014, he starred as Adam Wilson, a tough farmer and devoted family man, in the thriller "The Pack," a co-production between Kojo Films and Prodigy Movies. "The Pack" premiered at the 2015 Fantasy Filmfest and secured U.S. distribution on Netflix in 2016.
Campbell then played Alex Gibbs, an author and widowed father, in the feature film "Without A Body," alongside Kevin Sorbo, Michael Welch, Rena Owen, Whitney Rose Pynn, and Isabella Kai Rice. The film was released in the U.S. in 2017.
Also in 2017, Campbell appeared in the Nine Network mini-series "House of Bond," portraying America's Cup skipper John Bertrand. He starred alongside Byung Hun Lee and Hyo Jin Kong in the Warner Bros. release "Single Rider" the same year.
In 2019, Campbell featured in several films, including "Choir Girl," for which he won Best Supporting Actor at the Macabre Faire Film Festival in Long Beach, New York. In 2020, he starred in the feature film "The American King." In 2021, he led the feature film "Risen," earning a Best Actor nomination at The TBFF Awards in Toronto, Canada.
Campbell received a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the 1994 Australian Film Critics Awards for his role as MacAlister in "The Nostradamus Kid." He was also nominated for Most Popular New Male Talent at the 2008 Australian Television Awards (Logies) for his portrayal of Dr. Steve Taylor in "All Saints.
