With their dazzling harmonies and overwhelming chemistry, H3rizon-Bernie, Gabby, and Tiara -are ready to inspire. The trio are the first Asian-Pacific girl group to be signed to Epic, and they’re ready to make waves around the world.
Gabby, Bernie, and Tiara grew up on the west side of Sydney. "Musicians who come from our areas don’t really make it to this stage of a career," says Bernie. Their shared heritage and desire to pursue singing as a vocation led to them meeting backstage at local shows by Filipino artists, where they established the bonds that are immediately apparent when hearing their music. "Coming together and becoming a group was very organic," says Gabby.
The three struck up a fast friendship, discarding any sense of competition and instead coming together. "We would be in the green room before performing, and we’d be harmonizing with each other instead of rehearsing our own songs," recalls Tiara.
While all three members of H3rizon are from West Sydney, the varying ways Tiara, Gabby, and Bernie came to music add to the group’s whole package. Gabby and Bernie attended music schools, which grounded them in the details of music’s inner workings. "That’s how we gained our knowledge of music theory and harmony," says Bernie. "We do a lot of our own arrangements, and we’ve influenced each other."
Bernie cultivated an interest in the production side of music, with a particular focus on vocal production, while Gabby’s classical voice training leads to her throwing interesting twists into the group’s infectious melodies and stacked harmonies; Tiara’s musical chops came from immersing herself in the music of singers she admired. "These different musical backgrounds excited us about being a girl group-we all had something different to bring to the table," says Tiara. "We all have our own little lanes that we love to thrive in."
H3rizon are ready to vault over that high bar and command the spotlight while also galvanizing their audience to follow their dreams. "Being women of color, we can’t wait to inspire a lot of young women, especially from our area, to just pursue what they want," says Bernie. "We want to show them that they can make it if they want to."
