Director and producer Spencer T. Folmar made his theatrical debut with "Generational Sins," sparking a nationwide discussion on the relationship between faith and cinema. Publications such as The New York Post, The Los Angeles Times, FOX, The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, Washington Times, CBN, Christian Post, and others have all participated in the dialogue surrounding the film's launch. In response, Folmar introduced the term "Hard Faith" to define this emerging film genre, aimed at audiences seeking hope amid raw, real-life narratives.
Folmar began his career at 17, directing and producing his first feature film. He then pursued higher education, earning an MFA in film from NYU and a Master's in Theology from Reformed Theological Seminary. His passion for merging these fields drives his current film projects. Folmar’s mission is to "shine light in the darkness by telling stories of hope."
In 2018, Folmar established the non-profit Veritas Arts INC and embarked on a new venture by acquiring the historic Guthrie Theatre in Grove City, Pennsylvania. Under Veritas Arts, he also launched a film festival in western Pennsylvania. The organization's mission is to "tell stories that liberate," supporting education, distribution, financing, and development of feature films.
While developing another project, Folmar felt compelled to address the devastating opioid epidemic affecting America. After returning to his hometown in central Pennsylvania and hearing numerous heartbreaking accounts, he believed film was the most effective medium to raise awareness. This led to the creation of "Shooting Heroin," a film about a small town taking justice into its own hands to halt the drug crisis by any means necessary. The film began its theatrical tour in 2019, with plans for a wide release in early 2020.
