Rafinha Bastos, born Rafael Bastos Hocsman on December 5, 1976, in Porto Alegre, Brazil, is a comedian, writer, actor, director, journalist, producer, and host. He is best known for his work on Agora É Tarde, CQC - Custe o que Custar, "A Arte do Insulto," and 8 minutos.
He began his career as a professional basketball player at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he also created comedy videos for his personal website, Página do Rafinha.
Together with Marcela Leal and Marcelo Mansfield, he co-founded Clube da Comédia, becoming one of Brazil's pioneering stand-up comedians. His first solo show, "A Arte do Insulto," achieved great success, with Rafinha Bastos touring for over four years.
He was invited to host the talk show CQC - Custe o que Custar, produced by Cuatro Cabezas, alongside Marcelo Tas and Marco Luque. Additionally, he hosted A Liga, a journalistic television program.
In 2011, he released "A Arte do Insulto" on DVD, earning a Platinum award for selling more than 50,000 copies. That same year, The New York Times named him the most influential person on Twitter worldwide.
Rafinha Bastos made his acting debut in the 2006 GNT Channel production "Mothern," for which he won the 2007 Prêmio Jovem Brasileiro for Best Actor in a TV series. His first film, "Mato sem cachorro," premiered in 2013, followed by "Copa de Elite" in 2014 and "Superpai," which was in post-production.
Currently, Rafinha Bastos hosts the TV show Agora É Tarde and is a partner at the internet channel Marcapasso.
