Drew Seltzer is an American actor whose work spans network television, studio films, theater, and award-winning indie features. Known for playing grounded, emotionally layered every-men with subtle awkward comedic undertones, he has built a career that bridges stage and screen.
He is widely recognized for his recurring role as Dale Harmon, neighbor to Bill and Nancy Tench, in Season Two of Netflix’s acclaimed series Mindhunter, directed and produced by David Fincher.
Seltzer’s recent television work includes guest-starring roles on CBS’s Elsbeth and FBI, supporting roles in Amazon’s Cross, and portraying Rick Grimes’ father in the pilot episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.
On the feature side, he made his film debut opposite George Clooney in The Men Who Stare at Goats. Additional film credits include portraying historical figure David McConaughy opposite Stephen Lang in Gettysburg 1863, and playing the unsettling grocery store manager Rick in Never Rarely Sometimes Always, directed by Eliza Hittman and produced by Oscar winner Barry Jenkins. The film won the Jury Prize at Sundance, the Silver Bear at Berlin, earned seven Independent Spirit Award nominations, and was distributed by Focus Features.
Seltzer’s early training began at Hedgerow Theatre in Pennsylvania, where he spent much of his childhood. In the summer of 1999, just before college, he joined the theatre’s internship program and moved into the resident actor house.
During his time there, he appeared in productions including Hamlet, Ah, Wilderness!, Love’s Labour’s Lost, Zoo Story, and multiple productions of A Christmas Carol, while also working behind the scenes in stage management, lighting and sound operation, and front-of-house management.
Following his formative experience at Hedgerow, Seltzer pursued formal conservatory training at Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts through the four-year Meisner training program led by acting teacher William Esper.
During his senior year, Seltzer continued his classical training at Shakespeare's Globe in London during the tenure of Artistic Director Mark Rylance.
Following his university training, Seltzer began his professional stage career with a performance in As You Like It at Princeton Repertory Theatre. He went on to perform in numerous regional productions, including the role of Howie in Rabbit Hole at Theater With a View, and multiple seasons at East Lynne Theater, where he appeared in productions including Berkeley Square, Dulcy, and works celebrating Dorothy Parker.
In New York, Seltzer became a longtime cast member of the Off-Broadway production Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding, performing in various roles over an eight-year run in Times Square. He later appeared Off-Broadway in The Franklin Thesis at The New Ohio Theatre, directed by Tony Award-winning director Alec Timbers. The production was recognized as "Best of New York" in 2004 by The Village Voice.
Drew Seltzer’s producing work has centered on independent film. He served as executive producer on the feature Leaving Circadia, in which he also starred as the lead character, Ray. The romantic comedy-drama follows a group of Brooklyn brownstone residents navigating careers, relationships, and adulthood in their thirties.
Leaving Circadia premiered at the Emerge Film Festival in Maine, where it received Best in Festival, Best Director, and the Verizon People’s Choice Award. It went on to earn additional honors, including Best in Festival and Audience Choice at the First Glance Film Festival and Directors Choice at Indie Spirit. It was nominated for a Grand Jury Award at the Soho International Film Festival, Won Best Feature Film at the Manhattan Film Festival and numerous more awards and Long Beach, VOD and Fort Meyers Film Festival. The film continued to tour nationally on the festival circuit before securing distribution through Amazon. Featuring Michael Cerveris (The Guilded Age) and Christian Coulson (Harry Potter) among the cast, the project reflected Seltzer’s work both in front of and behind the camera.
Seltzer resides between Philadelphia and NYC with his actress wife Tiffany-Leigh Moskow and his two boys Dylan and Aiden.
