Fernando Spengler was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1979. After finishing secondary school, financial constraints led him to learn auto mechanics and work at a Havana auto repair shop. Alongside his vocational training, he attended evening school to earn his high school diploma. Following this, Fernando completed two years of mandatory military service in the Cuban Army. After his service, he spent another two years working as an auto mechanic at a state-owned repair shop in Havana, where he achieved the highest mechanic rating (A). As the youngest brigade leader at age 21, he served as an instructor and master in his field. Seeking new challenges, Fernando pursued his artistic passion by studying classical singing at Havana’s "Alejandro García Caturla" conservatory.
At 23, he secured his first contract as a solo singer at "Cabaret Tropicana" in the show "La Gloria Eres Tu," one of Cuba’s most renowned live productions. While performing, he trained at the "Dance School of Tropicana," focusing on show dance, and expanded his skills through acting workshops and theater courses at Havana’s "National School of Arts."
In 2006, Fernando's talents took him beyond Cuba. After auditioning in Havana for Disney's global hit musical "The Lion King" in Hamburg, Germany, he was the sole selection from 800 candidates. He moved to Germany to take on his first international role as "Simba." His experience in musical theater laid the groundwork for his artistic growth and new life in Germany. Immersed in diverse cultures from artists originating from South Africa, Australia, England, France, Brazil, and more, Fernando adapted quickly. This exposure accelerated his integration into European life, and as a native Spanish speaker, he became fluent in German and English.
Fernando made his film debut in 2010, starring as Fabio Veloso (Papai) in "Hier Kommt Lola" ("Here Comes Lola"), based on Isabel Abedi’s book series.
Embodying both his Cuban heritage and his adopted German culture, Fernando continues to build a successful career as a musical and film actor across Europe. He returned to "The Lion King" in Hamburg, this time portraying the role of "Mufasa.
