Sharon Soboil is a screenwriter specializing in adapting best-selling books and extraordinary true stories into films and series that achieve global success, often reaching #1. Adaptation is her forte, blending heart and compelling hooks. Raised in Marin County amidst the arts—her father a renowned trumpet player and bandleader, her mother involved in theatre—Sharon followed their creative path into writing.
Her film adaptations of the third and fourth novels in the New York Times best-selling YA series After, namely After We Fell and After Ever Happy, grossed over $20 million in theaters and became worldwide #1 hits on Netflix. She also adapted the first two novels of the Marked Men series, another New York Times best-seller, launching with Rule & Shaw. Directed by Nick Cassavetes, the film debuted at #1 in France and Latin America, ranked in the iTunes Top 10 in the U.S. and Australia, and is currently streaming on Hulu.
Her Hallmark TV movie Love On The Air was the top cable movie during its release week and remains a beloved favorite. Sharon has several film and television projects in development with notable talent attached, including her drama series Hot, which tells the remarkable story of the fearless women who transformed Palm Springs into the Shangri-La it is today, featuring her great-grandmother, Harriet Cody.
She has sold projects to and written for major networks, studios, and streaming platforms such as Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Hulu, Fox, Freeform, Nickelodeon, Participant Media, eOne, Voltage, and Girls' Club Entertainment. Beyond screenwriting, Sharon co-authored the acclaimed memoir Gold Standard with True Religion Jeans co-founder Kym Gold (Skyhorse Publishing). Her one-act plays include Go Scotland, performed by Alison Wright, and The Apology, published by Next Stage Press.
A member of the Writers Guild of America and the Television Academy, Sharon began her career performing with members of the renowned Groundlings and Second City troupes. She actively supports the writing community by serving on the board of the nonprofit The Women's List, participating annually as a panelist for the UCLA Feature Film Writing Conservancy, and moderating panels at film festivals.
