April has been active in the music industry since she was fifteen, working as a performer, producer, talent coordinator, talent scout, and writer. She has performed live and on recordings as both a lead and background singer alongside artists such as David Bowie, Peter Allen, Ronnie Spector, Mavis Staples, James Ingram, Isaac Hayes, Steven Tyler, Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken (The Little Shop of Horrors, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast), and Tony-nominated Michael Cormy (Grey Gardens). She has served as a staff songwriter for several music publishers, including Grammy winners Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, as well as Warner Chappell Music. Her songs have achieved platinum sales. As a session singer, she has contributed vocals to hundreds of jingles for brands like Blockbuster, Jeep, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Northwest Airlines, Nestea, Sprint, Mazda, Tropicana, Buick, Bubble Yum, Burger King, Sprite, Taco Bell, Subway, Save the Oceans Foundation, Goodyear, and many others.
A native New Yorker, April was a founding member of the renowned Intense Family Theatre, known for their legendary midnight performances at the Elgin Theater on 8th Avenue. She was also part of the award-winning Theatre Tribe in Los Angeles, appearing in several productions including the West Coast premieres of Lanford Wilson's "Book of Days," which won a Drama Critics Circle Award, and "Sympathetic Magic." In addition to acting in films like "Fame," she has continued to work in film and theater on both coasts. Most recently, she starred in Donald Margulies' two-character play "Collected Stories," which opened at the Odyssey Theater in LA before moving to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, receiving outstanding reviews. She also created, co-wrote, produced, and acted in a pilot titled "Dating Until Death.
