Douglas Lim, known as the King of Malaysian comedy, is a versatile entertainer involved in television, theatre, film acting, stand-up comedy, radio, and comedic content creation. Renowned as one of Malaysia's funniest and most adaptable performers, he has built a career as an actor, stand-up comedian, and popular emcee. He first rose to fame through his role as Steven the Stylist in the 1990s hit sitcom Kopitiam.
Lim's acting portfolio includes work in television, film, and theatre, featuring movies such as 1957: Hati Malaya (2007) and Los dan Faun (2008); TV shows like Homecoming, Each Other, and Spanar Jaya X (2019); and stage musicals including Lat Kampung Boy and Ola Bola: The Musical. In 2018, he starred in Malaysia's first off-Broadway production, Thicker Than Water, at The Public Theater in New York, earning critical acclaim for his lead role.
As a stand-up comedian, Lim organized and headlined one of Malaysia’s most successful comedy tours, showcasing talents from the Malaysian Association of Chinese Comedians, which he co-founded. His performances at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival received widespread praise, leading to multiple invitations, including appearances at the festival gala. When live performances were halted by the pandemic, Lim shifted to creating viral social media content, producing video parodies inspired by local events and politics, earning him the title King of Parody from the Malaysia Book of Records.
Despite the pandemic’s challenges, Lim remained active by collaborating with brands and companies on content creation and becoming a radio personality on Fly FM, co-hosting the Douglas Lim & Juanita in the Morning show in 2021. He has been married to Natasha Fernz, who also manages his career, since 2007.
