Alonzo B. Slater is an American actor, model, comedian, acting coach, and producer from Jersey City, New Jersey. Born to proud parents Cynthia Brown and Albert Slater, Alonzo discovered his passion for performing at the age of 11 when he auditioned for The Lion King on Broadway. Out of 300 young hopefuls, he earned a spot in the top 15 for the role of Simba, an experience that sparked his lifelong commitment to the craft and gave him an early understanding of the dedication required to succeed in the entertainment industry.
Years later, Alonzo graduated from William Paterson University with a degree in English, initially pursuing a path in education before returning to his true passion: storytelling through acting. Since then, he has built a diverse career as a performer, appearing in national commercials, Voiceovers, print campaigns, television, and film.
Alonzo has worked with major brands including Asics, Verizon, American Express, Facebook, Stella Artois, Ford, BMW, JC Penney, Apple, and Target. His television and film credits include appearances on projects such as The Upshaws (Netflix), Grown-ish (Freeform), FBI (CBS), The Equalizer (CBS), Law & Order: SVU, and CSI: Vegas. He also starred in the OWN Network holiday film A Christmas for Mary and the Lifetime film A Christmas Family Reunion, marking two of his lead roles in television films.
Alonzo continues to expand his impact beyond acting through his company Business of Commercial Acting, launched in 2023, where he serves as an acting coach and mentor helping performers develop audition skills, prepare for callbacks, and navigate the commercial industry.
Slater can be seen in Reasonable Doubt Season 3 (Hulu) as "Young Eddie" and in Average Joe Season 2 on Paramount+, premiering August 19, 2026, where he plays "Ehime" in a recurring role.
