Karly Rothenberg, a Denver, CO native, trained in New York and Los Angeles before launching her professional career at Totem Pole Playhouse in Pennsylvania. Two years later, she met her mentor and lifelong friend Avery Schreiber, studying Improvisational Theater with him until his death in 2002. She then studied under the legendary Stella Adler in her master class and proudly served as Ms. Adler's personal secretary in Los Angeles until Stella's passing. Some of Karly’s favorite stage roles include Lalume in Kismet, Susan in Desert's Song, Celia in A Hatful of Rain, Isabelle in Ring Round The Moon, Doatsy May in Best Li'l Whore House in Texas, and performances in various Los Angeles improv shows at The Second City and Improv Olympics, such as Good Touch Bad Touch Uncle Gary Go Away!, as well as with the Chicago Improv Festival ensemble World News at 10.
Her notable TV roles include Ms. Shapiro in the Netflix hit American Vandal, Marlene, Miguel Ferrer’s secretary on The Protector, Mrs. Valentine on That’s So Raven, and Madge Madsen on NBC’s The Office. Additional guest appearances include This Is Us, The Resident, AP Bio, Veronica Mars, Grey’s Anatomy, and Young Sheldon. She also enjoys a successful voice-acting career. Karly is a proud member of The Television Academy, Actors’ Equity, and SAG-AFTRA.
Her favorite film role to date is portraying Dee Brady, the boat captain, in the upcoming Netflix film NYAD, starring Annette Bening, Jodie Foster, and her new lifelong friend Rhys Ifans.
