Rosane Svartman holds a degree in Cinema Studies from Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF, 1991), a master's in Communications with a focus on Aesthetics and Technology from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ, 2006), and a PhD in Cinema Studies from UFF. Her thesis formed the basis of the book *Telenovelas and Transformation: Saving Brazil's Television Industry*, published by Routledge in 2021.
She has directed five feature films: *Como Ser Solteiro* (How to Be Single in Rio, 1998); *Mais uma Vez Amor* (Once Again Love, 2005); *Desenrola* (Untangle, 2011); *Tainá - Uma Aventura na Amazônia* (Tainá: An Adventure in the Amazon, 2012); and, in 2022, her fifth film *Pluft, o fantaminha* (Pluft, the Little Ghost), shot underwater and in 3D.
Rosane is also the author of several books: *Quando Éramos Virgens* (When We Were Virgins, 2006, Casa da Palavra Editors); *Desenrola* (Untangle, 2011, Ediouro Editors); *Onde os Porquês têm Resposta* (Where the Whys Have Answers, 2003, Jorge Zahar Editors); and *Melhores Amigas* (Best Friends, 2006, Jorge Zahar Editors).
She wrote the plays *Mais uma Vez Amor* (Once Again Love, 2004, directed by Ernesto Piccolo), *O Pacto das 3 Senhoras* (The Pact of the 3 Ladies, 2011, directed by Ernesto Piccolo), and *Anjos Urbanos* (Urban Angels, 2012, directed by Isabel Diegues).
As head writer, Rosane led two seasons of the TV telenovela *Malhação* (Young Hearts, 2012/2013 and 2014/2015) on Globo TV, earning nominations twice for the International Emmy Digital Award (2013, 2016) and once for the International Emmy Kids Award (2015). She also served as head writer for *Totalmente Demais* (Total Dreamer, 2015/2016) on TV Globo, which was nominated for the International Emmy for Best Telenovela (2017) and sold in over 100 territories. Additionally, she was head writer for *Bom Sucesso* (A Life Worth Living, 2019/2020) on TV Globo, nominated for the Rose d'Or Award in 2020.
Rosane is a partner at the independent audiovisual production company Raccord Produções (raccord.com.br) and co-founded the Grupo Nós do Morro Cinema School in the Vidigal favela community in 1995.
