Jill Jaress, CEO of Got A Laugh Entertainment, completed her full-length romantic comedy 1 Nighter (2012) in February 2012. She wrote, produced, directed, and starred in the film alongside Golden Globe nominee Timothy Bottoms.
Her debut film, Someone to Love (2007), was screened to a standing-room-only audience at Cannes' Short Film Corner, won the Broad Humor Film Festival, and was a finalist at the USA Film Festival, Queens International Film Festival, Big Bear Lake Film Festival, Through Women's Eyes Film Festival, Sundays in the City Film Festival, Cinema City International Film Festival, and received recognition at the Accolade Awards. Got A Laugh Entertainment aims to create commercially successful, uplifting comedies and family films.
Projects in development include Someone to Love (2007), two romantic comedy feature scripts titled Forever Yours? and Love to Steal, and a family fantasy called The Christmas Spirit. Between projects, she authored a how-to book for actors, Acting: Everything My Agent Never Told Me, featuring 54 chapters of industry advice and interviews with Steve Martin, Martin Landau, top casting directors, agents, writers, directors, and producers.
Jaress won the WGA Producers Access Program with The Christmas Spirit script, which was also a finalist in the Cinema City International Film Festival screenwriting competition. She received an Excellence in Writing award for her full-length feature script based on Someone to Love (2007). Her writing credits include the TV series Safe at Home (1985) and the play Rude Awakening, honored in the Writers' Digest Competition and included in the Audrey Skirball-Kenis California Play Collection. She also wrote, directed, and produced the educational TV series Breaking In for cable and a health and fitness pilot titled Star Secrets for KYPA radio.
Her stage work includes a starring role in the West End musical Dean in London, and an appearance alongside Pierce Brosnan in Tennessee Williams' play Red Devil Battery Sign, also in London.
