Maura Megan Knowles is an actor, singer, and writer. Early in her career on a Los Angeles set, Warren Beatty noticed her and elevated her to a featured role in the 1998 film Bulworth. Since then, she has appeared in numerous popular television shows, including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999), Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (2015), Rosewood (2015), Stitchers (2015), Medium (2005), Lie to Me (2009), Numb3rs (2005), ER (1994), Girlfriends (2000), Titus (2000), Becker (1998), Providence (1999), and The Young and the Restless (1973). Her recurring roles include Common Ground (2023), Just Sayin' (2014), and The Bold and the Beautiful (1987). Most recently, she appeared in the film Match Dot Mom (2024).
As a singer, Maura has performed in numerous musicals, ranging from Francis Ford Coppola's adaptation of "Gidget" to the acclaimed rock musical "Bare." More recently, she contributed to the movie musical Spit Me Out (2024) and has been featured as a vocalist on various albums.
Maura is also a dedicated writer, having been one of twelve songwriters selected for the Mercer Great American Songwriting Program at Northwestern University in Chicago. Her work spans screenplays, television pilots, and pieces for trade publications, magazines, and blogs. Her plays and musicals in development have been showcased at theater festivals, including The Western Stage's Playwrights' Festival in Salinas, CA. She serves as a Teaching Artist for Fountain Voices at Hollywood High School, focusing on theatre writing, and is the Education Outreach Coordinator for Los Angeles' Musical Theatre Guild (MTG).
