Sylwia Kaczmarek is an actress, emerging scriptwriter, and film director. She was born in Poznan, Poland, and currently divides her time between Poland and London.
Sylwia’s passion for media began in 2002 when she worked at WTK TV as a scriptwriter and presenter for a makeover show. Later, she developed a keen interest in theatre and film, leading her to pursue acting. She has appeared in Polish TV series and feature films such as Pigs 2 (W. Pasikowski, 1994), The Legend (M. Pujszo, 2005), Operation: Sunrise (D. Cerminara, 2008), and stage productions including Cosi fan Tutte (G. Jarzyna, 2005–2009), Wozzeck (K. Warlikowski, 2005–2010), and Ca Ira (J. Józefowicz, 2006–2007). In 2012, Sylwia was set to star in feature films Serbian After Hours and River by M. Itic. Between 2007 and 2009, supported by a grant from The Polish Film Institute, she studied drama in London.
In the UK, she performed in Night School (M. Lucia, 2008), Wake Up Jennifer (A. Kahan, 2009), and Future Perfect (T. Ukpo, 2009).
Influenced by London’s vibrant art scene, Sylwia has also ventured into writing and directing. Together with S. Derwesinski, she co-wrote and co-directed the docu-drama Heroin – My Love.
Expanding into fine art, in 2012 Sylwia completed a film installation titled Homo Geminus, in which she also starred. Her most recent project as a scriptwriter and director is the short film No Easy Way Out.
