Nicole Lyn was born in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, to Cheryl Gabay and Peter Lyn. Her passion for the arts began at age three when she started dance classes in her hometown. At eight, she gained admission to Toronto's renowned Claude Watson School for artistically gifted students, where she immersed herself in the performing arts while excelling academically. Nicole also pursued dance at the National Ballet School of Canada. By age 12, she was modeling and appearing in Canadian and U.S. national commercials, leading to regular roles on two Canadian series, Ramona (1988) and Eric's World (1990).
After a three-year break from professional acting to attend high school in Mandeville, Jamaica, Nicole returned to Canada and secured a lead role on Fox's teen sitcom Student Bodies (1997), which ran for three seasons. By 18, she was well known for her Canadian television roles and was a prominent figure in Toronto's entertainment scene.
Beyond television and film, Nicole has built a reputation as DJ Ms. Nix, performing at venues in Los Angeles, New York City, and Miami. In a few years, Nix became known as a "music lover's deejay," regularly spinning at notable venues and events nationwide.
