This petite, blonde, attractive, leggy, slightly curvy, and well-built TV presenter, radio announcer, singer, and actress was born in Cuba on February 14, 1948. She spent most of her teenage years in Miami, where she likely became fluent in English and earned a degree in Journalism. In the early 1970s, she moved to Spain and began working regularly in show business. While performing in the musical comedy "The Rocky Horror Show," she met her future husband, Argentinian actor Alberto Berco, who was also part of the cast.
In 1976, when the successful TV contest Un, dos, tres... responda otra vez (1972) returned to television in color for the first time, she appeared as a candidate to become one of the show's pretty, bespectacled hostesses. Although she wasn’t selected for that role, she was offered a steady position as a comic actress in the final segment of the show, the prizes auction. She eagerly accepted and quickly became a household name.
After the show ended again about two years later, she joined former hostesses María Durán and Beatriz Escudero to form a pop vocal trio called Acuario ("Aquarius," after the zodiac sign of two members). As lead vocalist, she helped the group enjoy brief but intense popularity thanks to their vocal talent and charmingly sexy image, scoring a summer hit with "Rema, Rema, Marinero" ("Row, Row, Sailor"). Soon after, she left the group to continue her TV presenting career on programs such as 625 líneas (1976), Ding-Dong (1980), and Sabadabada (1981), while also pursuing a solo singing career.
She released one album under her record label, titled "Una Dama" ("One Lady"), which featured her cover of Julio Ramos's anti-abortion pop hit "No Te Dejan Nacer" ("They Won't Let You Be Born"). Her pleasant voice and singing ability were evident. In 1978, she made her film debut in "Donde Hay Patrón...," starring Manolo Escobar. Later, she became a Spanish citizen and shifted her focus to radio, becoming one of the original voices on the then-new Antena 3 station (now defunct).
Her peak popularity came when Kiko Ledgard, the renowned host of "Un, Dos, Tres...," suffered a near-fatal accident and was unable to host the new season. She stepped in as his replacement, despite her personal sadness for her friend and colleague. She overcame inevitable comparisons and won over the audience, remaining on the show for an extended period.
After that long season, she took a lengthy break from the media to care for her husband during his battle with depression. Once he fully recovered, she returned to television, this time on private networks, but in a more sporadic role, making her less visible and somewhat underutilized in recent years. Nonetheless, she holds an important place in TV history and was rightfully one of the most popular media figures from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s.
