Award-winning freelance filmmaker Don Dunn launched his career in 1986 after graduating high school, where he specialized in television production and developed his skills as a director, cameraman, and editor. Driven and self-motivated, Don founded his own video production company at 18, working as a producer, director, cameraman, and editor for five years. He also managed a small cable television production and broadcast station for L.A.U.S.D. while studying feature film production at California State University Northridge and working as an extra on films and TV shows.
After earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Film in the early 1990s, Don began at the entry level in the feature film industry as an on-set Production Assistant. Through dedication and leveraging his production expertise, he advanced to Unit Production Manager within a year. Don's extensive experience and proactive approach enabled him to collaborate with numerous industry professionals and excel in various filmmaking roles, including producing, directing, line producing, production managing, assistant directing, location managing, and post-production supervising.
With over 50 feature film and television credits to his name, Don was selected by prolific producer, director, and actor Brian Robbins in 2009 to produce "Fred: The Movie," which became the highest-rated cable television movie in history, attracting over 12 million viewers during its Nickelodeon premiere. This success led Don to produce and production manage several series and films for Robbins, including the pilot and two seasons of "Supah Ninjas" (39 episodes), 24 episodes of "Fred: The Show," the feature film "Camp Fred" (2013 DGA Award nominee), "Richie Rich," one of Netflix's first original series, the feature film "Expelled," which was the top iTunes download in December 2014, and executive producing "The Smosh Movie" in 2015. Additionally, he worked on numerous projects with ATV/DreamWorks Animation and provided freelance consulting on various external ventures.
In 2015, Don was appointed by Brian Robbins as Head of Physical Production for Feature Films and Television at Awesomeness TV and Awesomeness Films, a studio division that grew into a leading creator of young adult content worldwide. There, he produced hundreds of hours of original programming, including the award-winning "To All the Boys I've Loved Before" trilogy, the two-time Emmy-winning series "Trinkets," Emmy-nominated series "Pen15" and "Light As A Feather," Emmy-nominated and Kids’ Choice Award-winning "XO, Kitty," as well as "School Spirits," "Dora and the Lost City of Gold," among many others.
Don continues to produce series and feature films for Awesomeness, Nickelodeon, and Paramount Plus under the banners of Paramount Global, Paramount Television, and Skydance.
