Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Malcolm got his start in the entertainment industry as a production assistant, working on films such as Sparkle (directed by Mara Brock and Salim Akil), Scream 4 (directed by the late Wes Craven), and Real Steel (starring Hugh Jackman). These early experiences ignited his passion for the behind-the-scenes aspects of filmmaking, ultimately inspiring him to create his own work and make the move to Los Angeles in 2013.
Since then, Malcolm has transitioned into his roles as a producer and director, overseeing a wide range of projects. He is also the founder of Aroberson Production, a company dedicated to crafting compelling, authentic stories for the screen. Malcolm's writing journey began with his love of reading and a background in AP English, where his passion for language and storytelling flourished. He takes pride in telling honest and thought-provoking stories, believing that every individual has a unique story to tell.
In addition to producing and directing, Malcolm has worked as a writer's assistant on Freeform's Baby Daddy, OWN's Love Is___, and Netflix's The Lincoln Lawyer, as well as on ABC hits Station 19, Grey's Anatomy, and The Rookie. As an actor, Malcolm brings a unique perspective to his work, further enriching his storytelling through firsthand experience in front of the camera.
Malcolm has written, produced, and directed numerous independent projects and continues to build his slate of work. He lives by the belief that "there are over seven billion people on this earth, and each person has a different story. The world always says, 'That story has been told before,' but I say, 'No story is the same.'"
