Carlellé Mercedes Parr is a multi-Emmy-nominated and Emmy® Award-winning Producer, Director, and Editor based in Los Angeles, CA. Known for her heart-centered storytelling and cinematic innovation, Carlellé is dedicated to creating work that is as healing as it is groundbreaking - from documentary and narrative film to transmedia content and immersive experiences.
Born in Greensboro, North Carolina, and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Carlellé's creative roots were planted early. A true artist and old soul, she was performing lead roles in theaters like the O'Reilly, Heinz Hall, and The Bynum Theater before most kids her age had learned to take a bow. She later trained at the esteemed Lincoln Park Performing Arts High School as a triple-threat in musical theatre, before pursuing a degree in Cinema & Digital Arts at Point Park University.
By 19, Carlellé was already working professionally in New York, where she was quickly scooped up by a local production company. That move opened doors to Los Angeles, where she became the youngest Editor and Casting Director for a team producing music videos for Interscope and other notable companies. Her talent and tenacity made her a sought-after creative for high-profile TV shows, commercials, and short films.
In 2016, she continued her education at the renowned MET Film School in London before returning to the States to work alongside veteran producers and directors in Washington, D.C. Her ability to blend editorial precision with soul-centered storytelling made her a trusted collaborator on projects ranging from hard-hitting docuseries to narrative shorts.
By 2018, Carlellé had officially made Los Angeles home - working, producing, and editing respectively, for The Ellen Show, Red Table Talk, and Doha Debates, among others. Despite the accolades, she remains grounded in purpose, focusing her work on elevating voices that are often unheard and building platforms for empathy, education, and equity.
Today, Carlellé is not only a filmmaker but also a spiritual storyteller, community leader, and advocate for youth, justice, and healing. Whether directing documentaries for global nonprofits, developing her children's book 'The Littlest Light: a Once in a Light-time Story' into a multimedia franchise, or archiving over 200 years of Black church history through cinematic preservation - she's committed to making sure stories of resilience, beauty, and truth are never left untold.
