Noah Oppenheim serves as the president of NBC News, overseeing the network's programming, editorial divisions, expanding digital platforms, and global bureaus.
In this capacity, he manages the network's flagship shows, including TODAY, NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, Meet the Press with Chuck Todd, and Dateline, as well as NBC News Digital, the streaming services NBC News NOW and TODAY All Day, and NBC News Studios.
Appointed president in February 2017 after two years as executive in charge of TODAY—a position he still holds—Oppenheim led TODAY to become the top morning news broadcast in the key A25-54 demographic, maintaining the lead for 49 consecutive months.
Under his guidance, NBC News has intensified its commitment to original journalism. The acclaimed Investigative Unit doubled in size, and in 2018, NBC News launched its Business & Tech Unit, delivering exclusive reports on major tech companies and leaders, cybersecurity, and disinformation.
These original reporting teams, alongside the network's Political Unit, have produced and broken over 750 scoops and exclusive stories on topics such as the #MeToo movement and USA Gymnastics scandal, the Mueller investigation and 2016 Russian election interference, the U.S.-Mexico border crisis, North Korea's nuclear program, medical device risks, and the government's response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
In addition to his news career, Oppenheim is a screenwriter who penned the critically acclaimed film Jackie, which won Best Screenplay at the 73rd Venice Film Festival. He also co-wrote The Maze Runner, launching a trilogy that has grossed nearly one billion dollars globally.
Oppenheim started his career in news by leading political talk shows like Hardball with Chris Matthews and Scarborough Country. An Emmy Award winner and named one of The Hollywood Reporter's "Most Powerful People in Media," he also helped create Mad Money with Jim Cramer. Previously, he covered multiple presidential elections and reported internationally from Iraq, Israel, Gaza, the West Bank, and Libya.
