Mark Collier was born in Boynton Beach, Florida, and is of Danish, English, Irish, and Choctaw descent. His parents, a CPA father and a nurse mother, later relocated the family to Ocala, Florida, where he grew up. At age 10, Mark began participating in local theater productions. During high school, his interests shifted to sports, excelling in wrestling and soccer. He attended Georgia Southern University, joined the Sigma Chi Fraternity, and earned a degree in Accounting. Soon after, his passion for acting resurfaced, leading him to move to Los Angeles at 28 to pursue studies in the field. While working as a bouncer, waiter, and Pilates instructor, he continued his training and joined the Blue Sphere Alliance theater company. After a few minor roles and a cameo in a Dixie Chicks music video, he landed a breakthrough role in 2002 as Mike Kasnoff, a reformed rebel, on the CBS daytime drama As the World Turns. In 2003, Mark received a Soap Opera Digest nomination for Outstanding Newcomer. While based in New York, he completed a two-year Meisner technique program under William Esper and trained at the Actors Movement Studio. In 2005, he served as a presenter at the 31st Annual People's Choice Awards. Mark currently resides in Los Angeles and is actively involved with Free Arts for Abused Children as a contributor and supporter, as well as a lifetime member of the Surfrider Foundation.
