Carmen Pretorius, an acclaimed South African actress and singer, has built a thriving career in both English and Afrikaans stage and screen industries, featuring in prominent South African and international TV shows and films. Her notable screen appearances include The Morning After (South Africa and Germany), Generations, Isidingo, Binnelanders Sub-Judice, Getroud Met Rugby, Pasella, Lien se Lankstaanskoene, Die Groot Dag, Trek In Jou Maag, and Geel Volla.
Carmen has also excelled in leading musical theatre roles locally and internationally, performing in over 15 countries such as Japan, Los Angeles, Germany, Singapore, Austria, and Hong Kong. She earned the prestigious Fleur du Cap Theatre Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her role as Maria Rainer in The Sound of Music.
Her musical theatre credits include Roxie Hart in the CHICAGO WORLD TOUR (2019–2021), Lorraine in the JERSEY BOYS WORLD TOUR (2012), Lulu and Sally Bowles in CABARET (Pieter Torien Productions, 2012), Sophie in MAMMA MIA! (2010), Ariel Moore in FOOTLOOSE (2009), leading roles in numerous Janice Honeyman pantomimes (CINDERELLA, ROBIN HOOD, ADVENTURES IN PANTOLAND), and Gabriella in HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL (2008/09).
Following her passion for vocal pedagogy, Carmen completed the Voice Teacher Training Programme under renowned coach Justin Stoney at New York Vocal Coaching and launched her own voice studio, The Voice Lab.
