Craig Clyde, originally from Washington State, has spent most of his adult life working in television and film. After a period as an English teacher, he launched his media career in radio and television in Montana before relocating to Utah. Beyond his media work, Clyde has acted in over sixty major films and national TV programs across all major networks, as well as numerous stage productions. Notably, he portrayed Cornelius Hackel in the original national roadshow of "Hello Dolly" featuring Dorothy Lamour. He is a member of both Actor's Equity and the Screen Actors Guild.
Clyde has received multiple nominations, including an IRIS award from the National Association of Television Producers and Executives. He earned his first Emmy nomination for "Captain Eddy's Exit," a project he wrote, directed, and scored. He was also nominated for a second Emmy for "Nostradamus," a television special for PM Magazine. Additionally, he authored "Lighting the Way - The Olympic Dream," a video commissioned by the International Olympic Committee that contributed to Utah’s successful bid for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.
Together with his son, K.C. Clyde, he co-founded Seerstone Entertainment, a Utah-based film production company. He has won seven International Telly Awards in the documentary category. His travel documentary "America the Beautiful," narrated by Charlton Heston, earned accolades including the Grand Jury Award at the Houston International Film Festival, the Golden Camera at the Chicago Industrial Film Festival, and another Telly Award.
As a director and screenwriter, Clyde has created feature films and television dramas. His directing credits include "Miracle Dogs" for Tag Entertainment, which aired on Animal Planet and featured a young Josh Hutcherson; "The Derby Stallion" from Tonya Walker/Scorpio Studios starring Zac Efron; "The Last Mustang"; and "The Family Holiday," which introduced Miranda Cosgrove. His film "The Christmas Wish," starring Edward Herrmann and Kristy Swanson, was among the highest-rated programs on the Hallmark Channel in 2011. In 2012, he wrote and directed "Heaven's Door," starring Charisma Carpenter, Dean Cain, and Joanna Cassidy. His twenty-first feature, "Storm Rider," featuring Kevin Sorbo, C. Thomas Howell, and Kristy Swanson, was released recently.
Clyde is a founding member of the Motion Picture Association of Utah and the Utah branch of the Screen Actors Guild. He is well-known across the state, maintaining relationships from the Utah Film Commission to multiple county and city film offices. As a novelist, he co-authored the young readers book "Wind Dancer" with James Hennessy, based on his original screenplay. He also wrote the psychological thriller "Lady In Black," adapted from his screenplay "First We Dance."
He has taught screenwriting workshops at the Film Makers Retreat, delivered lectures on filmmaking and screenwriting at various film festivals and universities nationwide, and advocates for children and adults with Down Syndrome. Clyde is married and resides in Utah.
