Borislav Drljaca, widely known as Bora Drljaca, was a Serbian folk singer originating from Bosanska Krajina. Celebrated as one of the most prominent Yugoslavian folk artists, he was honored with a Life Achievement Award for his contributions. Over his career, Drljaca recorded more than four hundred songs, including hits like "Stari vuk," "Ne namiguj na me tudja zeno," and "Placi, mala, placi." He performed for the Serbian diaspora across Europe, the USA, Canada, and Australia. Beyond music, Drljaca appeared on reality shows such as Veliki Brat VIP 4 and Parovi 4 and became a popular figure in numerous internet memes on social media.
Born in the village of Donja Suvaja in the former Kingdom of Yugoslavia during World War II, Drljaca came from a Serb family. At age two, his mother was killed by the Ustase, and his father remarried after the war. Later, Drljaca moved to Belgrade to study agronomy at the university.
He was married twice and had two sons from his first marriage. His first wife, Verica Drljaca, took her own life in 2007. He met his second wife, Radomirka Sladic, at one of his concerts. The couple had no children, and Sladic passed away from cancer in 2018. Following her death, Drljaca lived as a widower in Novi Beograd, a neighborhood of Belgrade, until he died of colon cancer on October 11, 2020.
