Half Scottish and half Danish, Tilly was born in a small village on the North Sea coast of Denmark. She grew up alongside her two older brothers, with a painter father and a mother who was both a teacher and craft maker.
Raised in the countryside, Tilly developed a deep love for nature and animals. She often rode her cherished pony, Bilbo, to the nearby country school, tying him up before heading to class. Yet, this country girl yearned to explore the world. Spending time in Scotland during her youth, she chose to live there as a teenager to connect with her Scottish heritage. This was just the beginning of her travels across Europe and later to America.
Her greatest dream was to live in New York City, and at 18, she made it a reality. While studying documentary photography at a college in New Jersey, she was accepted into Parsons School of Design in NYC. Struggling financially, she worked various odd jobs while pursuing her photography. One night, while coat checking at a trendy Soho bar, she was discovered as a model. From that moment, the adventurous country girl—who had left her village with only a backpack—embarked on a life-changing journey.
Within months, Tilly was traveling worldwide, shooting campaigns for prestigious brands like CoverGirl, Esprit, Banana Republic, and Avon, and walking the runway for Yves Saint Laurent, Burberry, Diesel, and many others. Her unique beauty and vibrant personality quickly made her a familiar face in numerous TV commercials.
As a child, she created “filmstrips” that she showed in a cardboard box, calling it “Cinema Nights for Family and Friends.” With a lifelong passion for storytelling, theater, and film, New York City was the perfect place to nurture this passion. She trained under acting coach Jackie Bartone (AADA) and completed her studies in 2004. Soon after, she landed her first female lead in Dark Horse, a film nominated at Cannes and 15 other international festivals. Her charming and quirky performance earned her a Best Actress nomination at Denmark’s Zulu Awards. Later, she appeared alongside Meg Ryan, Cloris Leachman, and Annette Bening in The Woman.
Now based in New York City, Tilly continues to hone her craft and expand her creativity, studying with the legendary Wynn Handman.
