Aurora Browne is among Canada's most prolific and skilled comediennes. A talented actress, Browne infuses her comedy with years of theatrical training, blending bright charm with dark, twisted humor. Her dedication to crafting unique characters has earned praise from Eye Weekly, which described her work as "absurd verisimilitude." Whether portraying a flawless mother or a cruel princess, Browne pushes her characters to their limits and beyond.
Browne's comedy career began spontaneously when she and a friend enrolled in an improv class. She quickly joined the sketch troupe Urban Myth and became a regular performer in Toronto's vibrant comedy scene. Her solo performances gained recognition, leading to her 2000 recruitment by The Second City Mainstage, a troupe known for launching comedy legends like Gilda Radner, Catherine O'Hara, Mike Myers, and Colin Mochrie.
While with The Second City for three years, Browne remained in high demand beyond the troupe. She continues to appear regularly in popular improv shows such as Monkey Toast, The Neutrino Project, Catch 23, and The Girrlz Show, and has guest-starred on various comedy programs including The Chick and Cubby Comedy Hour, The March of Dames, The Eclectic Circus, and The Jack Miller Show, among others.
Beloved by both audiences and critics, Browne has received numerous award nominations. In 2000, she was nominated for the Tim Sims Encouragement Fund Award. With The Second City, she won the Canadian Comedy Award for Best Sketch Troupe and Best Sketch Show, and individually, she has been nominated for Best Female Improviser.
Her television work spans The Eleventh Hour, Corner Gas, Comedy Now! (Women of the Night), The Gavin Crawford Show, and Cream of Comedy. She also hosted Comedy Now! Women of the Night Part II.
