Veronika Bellova, an actress and singer of Czech, Slovak, and Russian descent, was born in Prague. She graduated from the Prague Conservatory and spent time living in New York to take acting classes and experience the city’s lifestyle. Her notable film roles include performances in the award-winning Czech film "Kanarek" and "Expulsion from Paradise," directed by the internationally renowned Vera Chytilová. Internationally, she has portrayed Mugge, a mentally ill woman, in "Rene Hjerter" by Danish director Kenneth Kainz; the Woman Captive in "Hannibal Rising," directed by Peter Weber; and Kazi, a key supporting character, in the American film "The Pagan Queen," directed by Constantin Werner. German audiences recognize her as the Ice Witch in "Hui Buh und das Hexenschloss," the second installment of the popular Hui Buh fairy tale series, directed by Sebastian Niemann. Most recently, she appeared in the award-winning film "Bratri" (The Brothers) directed by Tomas Masin.
On American television, Veronika has appeared in the mini-series "The Children of Dune" and "Revelations." She also portrayed Miep Gies’s mother—the helper of Anne Frank—in the Disney+ mini-series "A Small Light." In Italy, she appeared in "Zodiaco - Libro Perduto," and on German TV she featured in "Die Diplomatin," "Der Zurich Krimi," and "Die Saat - Tödliche Macht." In the Czech Republic, she has had numerous guest and supporting roles in TV series such as "Ulice," "Specialiste," "Odznak Vysocina," and notably "Ordinace v Ruzove Zahrade 2."
Her stage work often combines singing and acting, which she finds most fulfilling. Highlights include playing Johanna in the musical "Sweeney Todd" at the English-speaking Prague Playhouse, as well as the Ghost of Christmas Past and the Charwoman in "A Christmas Carol," and the role of Shiva in "A Moment of Silence" at the Festival of Iranian Films. She is currently involved in the theater production "Where is Your Identity?" by Zlatko Teskere.
Veronika has featured in advertising campaigns, including a lead role in a major Czech telecommunications company’s TV and billboard campaign and online video presentations for HSBC Bank. More recently, she appeared in commercials for Cyrrus and CoffeeB.
A lover of languages, she speaks fluent Russian, German, Italian, and French. Her native language is Czech, and she also speaks fluent English with a soft American accent. After graduating, she continued to visit New York, balancing her acting and singing career with work as an English teacher in corporate settings until acting and singing opportunities took precedence.
