Brandon Dumlao is a director and cinematographer, currently serving as the Director and Co-Executive Producer of Addiction Unplugged on A&E. His previous work includes cinematography and executive producing for the VH1 rock documentary ATL: The Untold Story of Atlanta's Rise in the Rap Game, post-production on Behind The Music: Ludacris, and executive producing Real Change: Artists For Education, a one-hour primetime special on CBS featuring interviews and performances by Pitbull, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Lady Antebellum, Jason Mraz, Quincy Jones, Matthew Morrison, and LMFAO.
Brandon worked as an editor and animator on the theatrical documentary Far Out Isn't Far Enough: The Tomi Ungerer Story, which explores the life of the provocative Alsatian illustrator and author Tomi Ungerer. North American rights were acquired by First Run Features, while Paris-based Le Pacte manages French distribution and international sales (non-English), and PBS Distribution handles English-speaking territories outside North America. The film premiered in New York at Lincoln Plaza Cinemas and received a 2014 Producers Guild Award nomination.
He also edited The Magic City, the directorial debut of R. Malcolm Jones, featuring a cast including Keith David, Jenifer Lewis, and Jamie Hector (The Wire). Brandon has over a decade of experience as an editor and director of commercials and music videos.
He has directed campaigns both domestically and internationally for brands such as Johnson & Johnson, HP, Esserman International, and Ford. His music video portfolio includes prominent artists like Akon, Young Joc, Snoop Dogg, Freddy Jackson, Talia, Ivy Queen, Daddy Yankee, Wisin and Yandel, Alex and Fido, Toby Love, Trick Daddy, and Trina.
Brandon's cinematography work has taken him worldwide, capturing moments from Muhammad Ali training with fellow heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis to filming seals in icy waters near Newfoundland. He has also been lead editor on programs for Discovery Channel, Science Channel, A&E, ID, and HBO, and served as post-production supervisor for Discovery Channel’s Shark Week series Day of the Shark.
