Nicolas Robin is a French actor who grew up in western France, surrounded by the ocean and countryside. Passionate about nature, he was raised with horses and dogs and actively supports various animal protection organizations.
He began acting at age 11 when French director José Pinheiro discovered him for the lead role in the TV movie "L'instit," filmed in his hometown. Shortly after, he signed with an agent and worked with French directors like Renaud Bertrand, Pascal Chaumeil, and Arnaud Selignac, landing leading roles in several TV films.
An accomplished equestrian, Nicolas competes professionally in show jumping and dressage and is also a horse breeder. He enjoys numerous sports, including martial arts, surfing, windsurfing, running, and snowboarding.
Nicolas’s theater journey started in school, where he later won the "Best Young Actor" award at the Festival de Théâtre de Pont L'Abbé.
At 20, after spending a summer in London, he relocated to New York City to refine his accent with renowned dialect coach Deb Hecht. Fascinated by dialects, he now masters American, Russian, German, French, Polish, and Danish accents. Concurrently, he trained with John Strasberg and at the Michael Howard Studio in NYC.
At 22, after eight months of auditions, Nicolas secured the lead in "Black Ocean," directed by acclaimed Belgian filmmaker Marion Hänsel. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival and was selected for TIFF, Pusan, Sao Paulo, Paris, and Malmö festivals, where it won Best Film.
He continued his career across Europe, collaborating with actors such as Christopher Lambert, Romain Duris, Guillaume Canet, Claude Brasseur, Jean Paul Rouve, and Marc Zinga. He also appeared at the Cannes Film Festival in "The King of Escape," directed by César Award and Cannes Best Director winner Alain Guiraudie.
A fan of indie films, Nicolas has worked with Belgian director Patrick Glotz and French directors Nicolas Boukhrief and Gabriel Le Bomin.
In 2014, he began acting in English-language productions, including "The Program," directed by Stephen Frears and starring Ben Foster, Chris O'Dowd, Dustin Hoffman, and Jesse Plemons, as well as the TV series "Crossing Lines," alongside William Fichtner, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Donald Sutherland.
In addition to acting, Nicolas writes, directs, models, and holds a degree (BAC +2) in International Trade.
