Amy Paffrath is known for diving headfirst into every project she takes on. Remarkably, her mother Mary gave birth to her just nine minutes after arriving at the hospital. Never one to wait for opportunities, Amy is rapidly establishing herself in the entertainment industry.
Born in St. Louis to parents Mark and Mary Paffrath, Amy grew up with six siblings: Christy, Mark, Steven, Stacey, Matt, and Brittany.
With limited resources, the Paffrath family found creative, low-cost ways to entertain themselves. The lively family often staged plays and newscasts during gatherings. To nurture their children's creativity, Amy’s mother enrolled her in ballet, tap, and jazz classes at age three. Amy embraced performing with enthusiasm and eagerly learned new dance moves. At nine, she took up gymnastics, earning numerous awards and medals. In elementary school, she explored theatre, rallying her friends to help stage productions.
At St. Thomas-Aquinas Mercy High School in Florissant, Missouri, Amy discovered her passion for television. She worked in the media department both on camera with the AM in the AM show and behind the scenes producing and editing. In 1997, Amy signed with Toni’s International Models, booking various local jobs including runway shows and print ads for catalogs.
Amy’s fascination with television, coupled with her curiosity about people and places, made broadcasting a natural fit. Her new agent, Kevin Long of The Edge Agency, guided her career and secured jobs throughout college. As a University of Missouri Tiger cheerleader, Amy appeared in Athlon, an athletic magazine. She also worked as a reporter and anchor for KOMU-TV and served as an emcee at Déjà vu Comedy Club. In the summer of 2004, Amy was thrilled to land two internships in Los Angeles: one at Entertainment Tonight and another at KNBC. Working closely with Mark Steines, Mary Hart, Jann Carl, and Bob Goen, she gained invaluable experience. Although eager to stay in LA and launch her career, she returned to Missouri to complete her studies. In 2005, Amy graduated from the University of Missouri with a BA in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Textile and Apparel Management.
In early 2006, Amy finally moved from St. Louis to Los Angeles. From day one in the City of Angels, her career took off. She quickly secured hosting roles on two Direct-TV shows, "Created by U" and "In the Mix" (2006-2007). She starred in four films in 2006, including Dinner at Eight (2007), Moonlight on Ivy (2006), Fly Kidz (2006), and Hauntsville (2016), where she played the lead role. In 2007, Amy became the voice of Channel 101 on Direct-TV, hosted Broadcaster News at www.broadcaster.com/thenews, and starred in Paramore’s number one TRL video, "Misery Business."
