Jon Jashni is a media investor and content producer operating through his company, Raintree Ventures. Before founding Raintree, he served as President and Chief Creative Officer of Legendary Entertainment, where he supervised the development and production of films including Kong: Skull Island (2017), Warcraft (2016), Godzilla (2014), The Great Wall (2016), Crimson Peak (2015), the Jackie Robinson biopic 42 (2013), Lost in Space (2018), and Pacific Rim (2013).
He co-founded Legendary in January 2006 and played a key role over the next decade in transforming the company from a film-financing firm into a diversified, multi-platform media enterprise. Prior to Legendary, Jashni was President of Hyde Park Entertainment, a production and financing company with output deals at 20th Century Fox, Disney, and MGM. During his tenure, he oversaw the production of Shopgirl (2005), Dreamer (2005), Walking Tall (2004), and Premonition (2007).
Before joining Hyde Park, Jashni produced the romantic comedy Sweet Home Alabama (2002) for Disney/Touchstone. He also co-produced two films that earned three Academy Award® nominations combined: the acclaimed drama The Hurricane (1999), which secured a Best Actor nomination for Denzel Washington, and Anna and the King (1999), starring Jodie Foster, which received two Oscar nominations. Additionally, as a senior production executive at 20th Century Fox, he managed the development and production of the successful fairy tale Ever After: A Cinderella Story (1998).
Earlier, Jashni partnered with media executive Irving Azoff at Giant Pictures, based at Warner Bros. Together, they produced The Hurricane (1999), Jack Frost (1998), and The Inkwell (1994). Prior to that, Jashni was a production executive at Columbia Pictures, contributing to films such as Groundhog Day (1993) and Dracula (1992). He began his career at Daniel Melnick's The IndieProd Company, where he worked on productions including Roxanne (1987), Air America (1990), Mountains of the Moon (1990), and Punchline (1988).
Jashni is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Producers Guild of America, and serves as a Trustee Emeritus of the American Film Institute. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern California and an MBA from UCLA's Anderson School of Management.
